Day#190.2

Vacation day 3--continued

[Posting by phone is failing because of too large of file sizes so I'll just have to break the posts up]

We picnicked at a park close to the Colorado River which is what is dammed to make the lake. The kids were still wanting to swim so bad; Gary scoped out a section of the river first to make sure it was safe to let them go in. They had a blast and didn't mind until they got out that the water was incredibly stinky.  We noticed the Austin Sanitary Sewer fixture going into the river, not sure if it was taking in or dumping out. Nevertheless,  we headed right back to the house--thank goodness for 'only fifteen minute' drives.

Kids got thoroughly cleaned and the rest of us rested a bit before going on a shopping outing. Gary dropped Caroline and me off at Ikea while he and Jack hit an outlet place and thrift shops in search of Western wear.  Caroline had her first Ikea/meatballs experience. Us girls picked up a few things and the boys got nothing. We went home to Sam and Grant and made a spaghetti meal while Gary took Caroline out for sushi. We tried the WWII movie 'Fury' again;  this time not BluRay, and was successful. Tough movie to watch, though given the all too realistic content. Then we called it a night. Having fun in Texas so far!
